Sectional week in 2026 was another memorable chapter in Barr-Reeve basketball history. Competing in the IHSAA Class 1A Sectional at Jack Butcher Arena in Loogootee, the Vikings put together an impressive postseason run that showcased their discipline, defense, and ability to rise to the moment. The week ended with Barr-Reeve capturing the 19th sectional championship in program history, defeating Orleans 54–36 in the championship game. Barr-Reeve opened sectional play with a strong performance against Loogootee, earning a 48–35 victory in a packed gym filled with Viking fans. The win set the tone for the week and propelled Barr-Reeve into the semifinals with confidence and momentum. In the semifinal round, the Vikings delivered one of their most dominant games of the season, defeating North Daviess 63–30. Barr-Reeve shot efficiently and locked down defensively, building a comfortable lead and never letting the Cougars back into the game. The sectional championship matchup against Orleans proved to be the defining moment of the week. After a competitive first half, Barr-Reeve pulled away behind a standout performance from Kierson Lengacher, who scored 27 points, recording a career-high and leading the Vikings to the title. The championship was especially meaningful for first-year head coach Heath Howington, who guided the Vikings through a remarkable season and postseason run in his first year leading the program. His leadership helped the team stay composed in big moments and maintain the winning tradition Barr-Reeve basketball is known for. By the end of sectional week, Barr-Reeve had once again demonstrated why the program is one of the most respected in Indiana Basketball. With strong team play, a breakout championship performance from Lengacher, and steady leadership from Coach Howington, the Vikings celebrated another sectional title.
